Varshini presents Sunday Kutcheri


Encouraged and applauded all the way through the one hour by morning park walkers and regulars at the monthly Kutcheri, 13year old S Varshini, a class nine student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, presented a lively mikeless Kutcheri this Sunday (10 Nov) morning at 7am at the Chess Square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.
Varshini, who is learning music from Guru Smt. Bavani Santhanam, was accompanied on the Mridangam by Shravan Bharani and on the Violin by S Subashree. Varshini presented songs that included Shri Ganesha, Bala Ganaka,Vinayakuni and Koovi Azhaithal.
G Sundararajan, CFO, Sundaram Home Finance presented certificates and mementos to the artistes. The idea behind the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance every month is to promote young musical talent aged below 15years and provide them with a launch pad. Asha presents Navarathri Kutcheri at Nageswara Rao Park


On the third and final morning of the 5th edition of the Navarathri Special ‘Kutcheri in the Park’ organised by Sundaram Finance, 13year old Asha Ramanujam presented an hour of lively vocal carnatic music performance on Sunday (13 Oct) morning at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park.
Asha, who is learning music from Guru Dr. Prema Rangarajan, was accompanied on the Mridangam by R Kishore and on the Violin by Parur Ananthalakshmi. Asha presented songs that included Sidhi Vinayakam, Indhavazhi Poga Vendam, Nithi Chala Sukuma and Mudhukrisha. Sundaram Finance has also been organising Kutcheri in the Park on the first Sunday of every month since February 2007 for children aged below 15years. Atchaya Harini presents a lively Kutcheri in the Park


On day 2 of the three day Navarathri Special ‘Kutcheri in the Park’ organised by Sundaram Finance, 14year old B. Atchayaharini, a student of Vani Vidyalaya Sr. Sec School presented a lively vocal carnatic music performance at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park.
Atchayaharini, who is learning music from Guru Mrs. Padma Sandilyan, was accompanied on the Mridangam by D. Prasanna Venkatesh and on the Violin by Aasha Sriram. Atchayaharini presented songs that included Gajananaytham (Naatai- Aadhi), Inthakan (Bilahari- Roopagam), Chandrasekara (Sindhu Bairavi- Aadi) and Shree Lakshmi (Hamsadwani- Aadhi) P. Viswanathan, Company Secretary, Sundaram Finance Ltd., presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.

Duo present Navarathri Special Kutcheri in the Park


The 5th edition of the Navarathri Special ‘Kutcheri in the Park’ organised by Sundaram Finance kicked off this (Friday) morning with a vocal carnatic music performance by the duo of Koushik Shankar and Karthik Shankar at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park.
The duo are learning under Guru Mrs. Vasanthi Gopal. They were accompanied on the Mridangam by M. Prabhakaran and on the Violin by G. Vishveshwaran

Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam student presents Mikeless Kutcheri


As part of the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance, 12year old R. Anirudh Subramanian, a class 8 student of Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam, presented a mikeless Kutcheri for an hour this Sunday (1 September) morning from 7am at the Chess Square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Anirudh has been learning music from Guru Smt. Padma Sandilyan.
Accompanied on the Mridangam by Kishore Ramesh and on the Violin by Parur Ananthalakshmi, Anirudh presented songs that included Paamarajana Palini ( Simhendra Madhyamam), Inthakan Anananda ( Bilahari), Rama Neeyada ( Karaharapriya) and Jagadodharana ( Kaapi). Two Overseas Students present Sunday Kutcheri


Sunday morning at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore saw two young overseas children present the mikeless kutcheri as part of the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance. At 630am, 13year old Aditya Ravikanth, a class 9student of Acton Boxborough High School, Massachusetts, USA presented a 45minute Kutcheri. Aditya who has been learning music from Guru Smt. Tara Anand presented songs that included Vinayaka (Hamsadhwani Ragam/Adi Taalam), Sadaachaleswaram (Bhoopalam/Adi) and Meenakshi Me Mudam (Poorvikalyani/ Adi).
2nd Kutcheri of the morning Following this, 10year old S. Sowmya Lakshmi, a class 6 student of Elite English School, Dubai presented a lively one hour Kutcheri between 715am and 815am applauded by the music lovers who came there not withstanding the heavy late night rain in Mylapore. Sowmya Lakshmi has been learning music from Guru Palakkad Vijay Kumar. Sowmya Lakshmi’s compositions included Tyagarajar’s Sree Ganapathini (Sowrashtram Ragam, Aadhi Taalam), Maa Jaanaki (Kamboji / Aadhi) and Bandureethi (Hamsanadham/Aadhi), Pattanam Subrahmaniayer’s Aparaadha (Lathangi/ Aadhi), Gopalakrishna bharathi’s Sabhapathikku (Aabhogi Roopakam ) and Vanamaali Jeeyar’s Janaki Ramana (Kaappi/ Aadhi).

Sai Nishanthi presents Sunday Kutcheri in the Park


15year old Sai Nishanthi, a Class 10student of DAV School, Adambakkam presented a lively mikeless Sunday Kutcheri in the Park this Sunday (2 June) morning at 7am at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Sai Nishanthi has been learning music for 8 years and is currently learning from Mrs. Vasanthi Gopal. She was accompanied on the Mridangam by Prabhakar M (Guru Therazhandur Shri Sundara Raghavan) and on the Violin by Vishveswaran R (Guru Shri Panchanathan). Sai Nishanthi’s presentation included Karunai Seivaai (Hamsadvani), Swaminatha Paripaala Naatai (Adhi), Vaade Raa (Panthuvarali), Ninne Nammi (Thodi), Dhora Kuna (Bilahari), Mahadeva Siva (Revathi), Dheenanu (Desh) and Shree Rama Dhootha (Mohanam). Pune Student presents Sunday Kutcheri

A big crowd watched 12year old Subhadra Sridharan, a Class 7 student of The Bishops Co-Ed School, Pune present a lively one hour Kutcheri sans mikes and speakers on Sunday (5 May) morning here at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Subhadra enthralled the audience with her presentation that comprised of Papanasam Sivan’s Karuna Nidhiye (Bowli Ragam/ Mishra Chapu Thaalam) and Edadhupadam Thuki ( Khamas/ Adi), Purandaradasar’s Jagadhodharana ( Kapi/ Adi) and Thyagaraja’s Etavunara ( Kalyani/ Adi), among others. Subhadra, who has been learning music since the age of five, was accompanied on the Mridangam by T. Kathik (Guru Madurai K.Rangarajan) and on the Violin by Master T. Kishore (Guru M. S. G. Suresh). Swasthika presents Sunday Kutcheri in the Park


Two changes were initiated at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park that took place on the 1st Sunday of April 2013. The starting time of the Kutcheri was moved to 7am from the usual 630am. And a 8x8 stage was set up at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park for the first time. Seated atop this specially erected stage, 14year old S. Swasthika, a class 9 student of P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore presented an hour of lively Sunday Kutcheri in the Park this (7 April) morning at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Swasthika is learning music from Guru Sri Thiruvarur Sankaran Iyer. No mikes and speakers are used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Accompanied on the Mridangam by C.T. Kathik (Guru Madurai K. Rangarajan) and on the Violin by Master T. Kishore (Guru M.S.G.Suresh), Swasthika presented compositions that included Villayada Ithu Nerama, Karunai Theivame, Theva Thevam Baje, Enna Kavi Paadinalum, Karunai Chooda Ninnu, Saamaja Vara Gamana, Thelisi Ramachandra and Saarasa Mukhi. Vijaykishore presents Sunday Kutcheri


14 year old A. Vijaykishore, a student of DAV School, Adambakkam presented Kutcheri this Sunday (3 March) morning as part of the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Vijaykishore was accompanied on the Mridangam by K Sudev (Disciple of Sri Adambakkam Seshadri) and on the Violin by Parur M.K.Ananthalakshmi ( Disciple of Parur M.S. Anantharaman and Parur M.A. Krishnaswamy). Vijaykishore is learning music from Guru Vasanthi Gopal. Sunday Kutcheri in the Park enters 8th Year


Baanupriya presents Kutcheri in the Park Launched in February 2006, the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance has completed 7years. Over 700 children have presented the mikeless Kutcheri at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. No Mikes and Speakers are used at the Kutcheri. 14 year old Baanupriya, a student of Modern Senior Secondary School presented a Kutcheri this Sunday (3 Feb) morning to kick off the 8th year of the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Baanupriya was accompanied on the Mridangam by P.V.Srivatsa (Guru: T.Shyamsundar) and on the Violin by Parur M.K. Ananthalakshmi (Disciple of M.S. Anantharaman and M.A.Krishnaswamy). Baanupriya is learning music from Guru G.Vaidehi / Vasantha Ramesh (disciples of Smt Suguna Varadachari). Banupriya’s presentation included Papanasam Sivan’s Senthil Andavan (Karahara priya) and Parthpara (Vachaspathi), Jayachamaraja Wodeyar’s Sri Jalanthara Gam (Bira Nattai), Mysore Sadasiva Rao’s Sri Kamakodi (Saveri), Mythiya Bhagavathar’s Gam Ganapathe (Hamsadvani). Harishree Vidyalayam students' Group Kutcheri


For the First time the Group Kutcheri was broken up into two parts of 30minutes each Chennai 11 January 2013: On day two of the four day Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2013 25students of Harishree Vidyalayam presented a group kutcheri in two parts this morning at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. No mikes and speakers were used in the Park Kutcheri. For the first half hour, starting 630am, these children presented a mix of carnatic songs,hindi bhanjans, abhang and devotional songs. Between 7am and 730am this morning, as part two of the Group Kutcheri, 3children presented a combination of Carnatic and Hindustani classical songs. The idea behind the Kutcheri in the Park is to promote young musical talent aged below 15 years and to help them shed their inhibitions and give them the confidence to move up to the next level. Chettinad Vidyashram students kick off Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2013 with a mikeless kutcheri


The four day Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2013 kicked off this morning at 630am with a one hour mikeless Group Kutcheri presented by 15students of Chettinad Vidyashram in front of hundreds of morning park walkers at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. No mikes and speakers were used in the Park Kutcheri. Accompanied by Varun Narayana on the Mridangam and Sathya Rajesh, who took on the dual role of playing the Tabala and the Kanjira, these school students aged below 15years presented Bhajan compositions that included Gam Gam Ganapathi, Malmaruga, Narayanajaye, Theertha Vittala, Panduranga Vittala and Vanamali Vasudeva.
