Jugalbandi performance at Kutcheri in the Park
The three day Navarathri Special Kutcheri in the Park ended with a Jugalbandi performance by Master Sarvajit Krishna and party.
As part of the Jugalbandi, M. Sarvajit Krishna and S. Subramanyam were on the Mridangam, while S. Srinath played the Ganjira and S. Sasidaran the Ghatam. All four of them are learning music from Guru Sri Madurai K. Thiagarajan.
The instrumentalists played the Adhi Thalam for half an hour and Roopaga Thalam for another 30minutes.

Flute Kutcheri at Nageswara Rao Park
It was a Kutcheri with a difference on day2 of the three-day Navarathri Special Kutcheri in the Park organized by Sundaram Finance. There was no vocalist this morning. Instead, the morning walkers were drawn to the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore by the sweet tunes of 12year old Flautist V. Sreeraman, a class 8 student of Vidya Mandir, Mylapore who presented a captivating flute recital.
Sreeraman was accompanied on the Violin by Thiruvedaimarudur K Ganeshan (Guru - Shri Durai Balasubramaniam) and on the Mridangam by 14 year old Nellai V. Sreekrishnan (Guru - Padmavibushan Umayalpuram Sri K Sivaraman). Sreeraman has been learning music for 5 years from Guru. Sri K V Ramanujam.
Some of the songs Sreeraman presented included Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Swaminatha Paripalaya (Natai- Adi) and Mamava Pattabhirama ( Manirangu-Misra Chaapu), Thyagaraja’s Anupama Gunambudhi (Atana-Khanda Chaapu), Shyama Sastri’s Sarojadhalanetri(Shankarabharanam-Adi) and Bhadrachala Ramadasar’s Paluke Bangaramayena (Aanandha Bairavi- Adi)
TT Srinivasaraghavan, Managing Director, Sundaram Finance Ltd., was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.
The idea behind the Kutcheri in the Park is to provide a platform for young children aged below 15years to display their musical talent. Mikes and Speakers are not used. Sundaram Finance audition committee conducts an audition to select the artistes to perform at the Kutcheri in the Park.

Vidya presents Navarathri Kutcheri in the Park
Day 1 of the second edition of the three day Navarathri Special Kutcheri in the Park kicked off this morning with a pleasing Carnatic music performance by 12 year old R. Vidya, a class 8 student of AVM Rajeswari Mat. Higher Secondary School, at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.

Accompanied on the Violin by 11year old Parur M.K.Ananth Lakshmi (Guru - Parur M S Anantha Raman) and on the Mridangam by 15 year old D. Sivaraman (Guru - T Shyam Sundar), Vidya, who took a particular liking for Thyagarajar’s compositions, presented Anubama Guna (Atana Ragam Kanda Chapu Thaalam), Thulasi Thala (Maya malava gowla- Rupakam), Marukelara O raghava (JayanthaShri – Adi), Vasudevayani (Kalyani- Adi), Vandanamu Ragunandana (Sahana- Adi) and Manavyalakin Chara Thate (Nalinakanthi-Adi) among others.
