Two changes were initiated at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park that took place on the 1st Sunday of April 2013.
The starting time of the Kutcheri was moved to 7am from the usual 630am.
And a 8x8 stage was set up at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park for the first time.
Seated atop this specially erected stage, 14year old S. Swasthika, a class 9 student of P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore presented an hour of lively Sunday Kutcheri in the Park this (7 April) morning at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Swasthika is learning music from Guru Sri Thiruvarur Sankaran Iyer. No mikes and speakers are used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park.
Accompanied on the Mridangam by C.T. Kathik (Guru Madurai K. Rangarajan) and on the Violin by Master T. Kishore (Guru M.S.G.Suresh), Swasthika presented compositions that included Villayada Ithu Nerama, Karunai Theivame, Theva Thevam Baje, Enna Kavi Paadinalum, Karunai Chooda Ninnu, Saamaja Vara Gamana, Thelisi Ramachandra and Saarasa Mukhi.
G Sundararajan, Head- Finance, Sundaram BNP Paribas Home Finance presented mementos and certificates to the artistes.
