Thematic ‘Shakthi and Shivam’ Mikeless Group Kutcheri
Morning Walkers and Music Connoisseurs gather in big numbers on Saturday morning
The Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore wore a festive look on Saturday morning with over 200people including,morning walkers, gathering around the chess square to watch and appreciate over 20 young artistes (Students of Mrs. Prabha Rajaram), all aged below 15years, present a lively Mikeless Group kutcheri that was based on the theme ‘Shakthi and Shivam’, as part of the 3rd morning events of the Four day annual Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2011.
These young artistes were accompanied on the Harmoniam by Shankar Raman, on the Mridangam by Shivasubramaniam and on the Dolki by Ashwin.
Shakthi and Shivam Composition
Alternating their presentation between Shakthi and Shivam, the young group presented songs such as Kanchadalaya Dakshi ( Kamalamanohari –Aadhi), Mamavasad Janani (Kaanada- Rupakam), Sabapathikku ( Aabhogi- Rupakam), Kapali ( Mohanam- Aadhi) Karpagambike( Bilahari- Rupakam) and Siva Peruman Kripai ( Surutti- Aadhi).
P. Viswanathan, Dy. Secretary & Compliance Officer, Sundaram Finance was present on the occasion and handed over certificates to all the performing artistes.
The aim of the Kutcheri in the Park is to provide a platform for young children under the age of 15 years to display their musical talent in an informal park audience. Mikes and Speakers are not used at the Kutcheri. Sundaram Finance conducts audition to select the artistes.

Ganamrutha Music School present mikeless concert
On a cloudy Friday morning, as part of day 2 of the Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2011, 9students, all aged below 15years, of Ganamrutha Music School (Guru: Mrs. Chitra Madhavan) presented a vocal carnatic music performance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. They were accompanied on the Violin by Sai Rakshith and on the Mridangam by S. Giridhar.
They presented songs such as Kaavagajamukha (Hamsadvani- Aadhi), Rajagopalanai
(Bheembalas- Aadhi), Kurai Onrum Illai (Ragamalika) and Ellorum Sugamai
(Madhyamavathi- Aadhi).
Nadaswaram Mangala Isai
S.Pandian and M. Mohan (Guru B. Raj) of the Tamil Isai Kalloori presented a Nadaswaram Kutcheri to kick off the Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2011 on Thursday morning at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park. They were accompanied on the Thavil by R. Jeeva and Venkatesan (Guru K. Manikandan).
This is the first time in over 5years of the mikeless kutcheri at the Nageswara Rao Park that a Nadaswaram Kutcheri has taken place.
TT Srinivasaraghavan, Managing Director, Sundaram Finance Ltd., was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.
