Maithreyi presents Sunday Kutcheri

As part of the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance, 14year old Maithreyi presented a lively mikeless kutcheri this morning at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Maithreyi is learning music from Dr. Chitra Madhavan.
Accompanied on the Violin by S. Vignesh (Guru: Sri S Nagarajan) and on the Mridangam by Hari Vishwanathan (Guru: Ms Narmada Gopalakrishnan), Maithreyi presented compositions that included Thyagarajar’s Sri Ganapathinee ( Sourashtram/Adi) and Guru Leka ( Gowri Manohari/ Kanda Chapu), Muthuswamy Dikshithar’s Shankaram Abhirami ( Kamala Manohari / Roopakam) and Swarna Venkatesa Dikshithar’s Nee Inri (Ananda Bhairavi/Adi), Manila Meedhinil (Desh /Adi) and Ellorum Sugamai ( Madhyamavathi / Adi). P Viswanathan, Company Secretary, Sundaram Finance was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.
Organised on the first Sunday of every morning between 7am and 8am, the idea behind the Kutcheri in the Park concept is to promote young musical talent aged below 15 years and to provide a launch pad for them. The focus has been on developing this as a platform for young ‘unsung’ children. No mikes and speakers are used at the Kutcheri. Over 900 children have presented Kutcheri in the Park since its launch in February 2006. Sundaram Finance conducts audition to select the artistes for the monthly kutcheri. To register for the audition: email sundaykutcheri@sundaramfinance.in
