14 year old G. Gurupreethi, student of Vidwan Dr. B. Umashankar, presented a lively Mikeless Kutcheri on a cloudy Sunday (Nov 4) morning between 7am and 8am at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.
Accompanied on the Violin by D. Shyam Ragav and on the Mirudangam by Yashwanth Ravi, Gurupreethi enthralled the audience comprising of morning park walkers and kutcheri regulars with compositions that included Thyagarajar’s Ethari Sancha (Shruthi Ranjani/Deshadhi), Ninne Bhajana (Nattai/Adi) and Narasimha (Bilahari /Misra Chapu), Muthuswamy Dikshithar’s Sri Kamalambige ( Sri Ragam/ Kanda Ekam), Shyama Sastry’s Himadri Sudhe ( Kalyani/ Adi) and Devi Sri Kamakshi (Bairavi/Adi) and Bharathiyar’s Saaga Varam Arulvai (Behag/Roopakam).
N Sriraman, Sr. GM, Sundaram Finance Ltd., presented certificates and mementos to the artistes.
