Sai Nishanthi presents Sunday Kutcheri in the Park

15year old Sai Nishanthi, a Class 10student of DAV School, Adambakkam presented a lively mikeless Sunday Kutcheri in the Park this Sunday (2 June) morning at 7am at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Sai Nishanthi has been learning music for 8 years and is currently learning from Mrs. Vasanthi Gopal. She was accompanied on the Mridangam by Prabhakar M (Guru Therazhandur Shri Sundara Raghavan) and on the Violin by Vishveswaran R (Guru Shri Panchanathan). Sai Nishanthi’s presentation included Karunai Seivaai (Hamsadvani), Swaminatha Paripaala Naatai (Adhi), Vaade Raa (Panthuvarali), Ninne Nammi (Thodi), Dhora Kuna (Bilahari), Mahadeva Siva (Revathi), Dheenanu (Desh) and Shree Rama Dhootha (Mohanam). The idea behind the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance is to promote young musical talent aged below 15 years and to help them shed their inhibitions and give them the confidence to move up to the next level. Pune Student presents Sunday Kutcheri

A big crowd watched 12year old Subhadra Sridharan, a Class 7 student of The Bishops Co-Ed School, Pune present a lively one hour Kutcheri sans mikes and speakers on Sunday (5 May) morning here at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Subhadra enthralled the audience with her presentation that comprised of Papanasam Sivan’s Karuna Nidhiye (Bowli Ragam/ Mishra Chapu Thaalam) and Edadhupadam Thuki ( Khamas/ Adi), Purandaradasar’s Jagadhodharana ( Kapi/ Adi) and Thyagaraja’s Etavunara ( Kalyani/ Adi), among others. Subhadra, who has been learning music since the age of five, was accompanied on the Mridangam by T. Kathik (Guru Madurai K.Rangarajan) and on the Violin by Master T. Kishore (Guru M. S. G. Suresh). Her current Guru is Vidwan Delhi Sunder Rajan. S Kumar, AGM (Admn), Sundaram Finance Ltd presented certificates and mementos to the artistes. The idea behind the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance on the first Sunday of every month is to promote young musical talent aged below 15years and provide them with a launch pad. Swasthika presents Sunday Kutcheri in the Park

Two changes were initiated at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park that took place on the 1st Sunday of April 2013. The starting time of the Kutcheri was moved to 7am from the usual 630am. And a 8x8 stage was set up at the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park for the first time. Seated atop this specially erected stage, 14year old S. Swasthika, a class 9 student of P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore presented an hour of lively Sunday Kutcheri in the Park this (7 April) morning at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Swasthika is learning music from Guru Sri Thiruvarur Sankaran Iyer. No mikes and speakers are used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Accompanied on the Mridangam by C.T. Kathik (Guru Madurai K. Rangarajan) and on the Violin by Master T. Kishore (Guru M.S.G.Suresh), Swasthika presented compositions that included Villayada Ithu Nerama, Karunai Theivame, Theva Thevam Baje, Enna Kavi Paadinalum, Karunai Chooda Ninnu, Saamaja Vara Gamana, Thelisi Ramachandra and Saarasa Mukhi. G Sundararajan, Head- Finance, Sundaram BNP Paribas Home Finance presented mementos and certificates to the artistes. Vijaykishore presents Sunday Kutcheri

14 year old A. Vijaykishore, a student of DAV School, Adambakkam presented Kutcheri this Sunday (3 March) morning as part of the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. Vijaykishore was accompanied on the Mridangam by K Sudev (Disciple of Sri Adambakkam Seshadri) and on the Violin by Parur M.K.Ananthalakshmi ( Disciple of Parur M.S. Anantharaman and Parur M.A. Krishnaswamy). Vijaykishore is learning music from Guru Vasanthi Gopal. Vijaykishore’s presentation included Sri Mahaganapathi (gowlai - misra chapu), Nadaloludai- (kalyanavasantham- roopakam), Dhanavana( thodi- adi), Velaiya (saveri- adi), Krishna Ne Begane (yamunkalyani- misra chapu), Eppadi Padinaro (aaberi- adi) and Narayanathe ( behag- adi). Sunday Kutcheri in the Park enters 8th Year

Baanupriya presents Kutcheri in the Park Launched in February 2006, the monthly Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance has completed 7years. Over 700 children have presented the mikeless Kutcheri at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. No Mikes and Speakers are used at the Kutcheri. 14 year old Baanupriya, a student of Modern Senior Secondary School presented a Kutcheri this Sunday (3 Feb) morning to kick off the 8th year of the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Baanupriya was accompanied on the Mridangam by P.V.Srivatsa (Guru: T.Shyamsundar) and on the Violin by Parur M.K. Ananthalakshmi (Disciple of M.S. Anantharaman and M.A.Krishnaswamy). Baanupriya is learning music from Guru G.Vaidehi / Vasantha Ramesh (disciples of Smt Suguna Varadachari). Banupriya’s presentation included Papanasam Sivan’s Senthil Andavan (Karahara priya) and Parthpara (Vachaspathi), Jayachamaraja Wodeyar’s Sri Jalanthara Gam (Bira Nattai), Mysore Sadasiva Rao’s Sri Kamakodi (Saveri), Mythiya Bhagavathar’s Gam Ganapathe (Hamsadvani). Kumaraswamy, Sundaram Business Services was present on the occasion and presented certificates and mementos to the artistes. 52 DAV students present kutcheri in the park

On the final morning (Sunday 13 Jan) of the four day Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2013, 52 students from DAV Mat Higher Secondary School (Guru Guhaprasath) accompanied by V. Suresh (Percussionist) presented an hour of lively mikeless Kutcheri that was applauded by 100s of morning walkers at the Chess Square at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.
