Sayee Rakshith presents Violin recital


Moving away from the string of vocal music performances seen over the last few months, the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organised by Sundaram Finance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore saw this Sunday morning(4th July 2010) a captivating violin presentation by 11 year old S. Sayee Rakshith, a student of The Hindu Senior Secondary School, Indira Nagar. So impressive was his performance that not a single person in the audience moved through the entire one hour of his presentation.

Accompanying Sayee Rakshith on Sunday morning were two teenagers- 13 year old Gomathy Shankar on the Mridangam and 14year old Sainath on the Ghatam.

Sayee Rakshith presented some of the popular compositions including Muthuswami Dikshitar’s Vathapi (Hamsadwani-Aadi), Thyagaraja’s Rama Nannu (Harikambhoji-Rupakam) and Papanasam Sivam’s Enna thavam (Kaapi –Aadi).

TT Srinivasaraghavan, Managing Director, Sundaram Finance Ltd., was present on the occasion and handed mementos and certificates to the artistes.


Sunday Kutcheri in the Park provides a platform for young children under the age of 15 years to display their musical talent in an informal park audience. Mikes and Speakers are not used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Sundaram Finance conducts audition to select the artistes.
