Divya presents vocal carnatic music

An all women Mikeless Sunday Kutcheri


The August edition of the Sundaram Finance Sunday Kutcheri in the Park was an all women Kutcheri. Accompanied on the Mridangam by 11 year old S. Aswini and on the Violin by R. Shraddha(now a Sunday Kutcheri regular), 12 year old R. Divya, a student of Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar presented a Vocal Carnatic music performance at the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.

Divya has been learning music for the past 7 years from Guru Smt. Subha Jawahar. She is also a budding Violin artist.

Divya’s presentation included Papanasam Sivam’s Sri Ganesha Charanam (Thillang –Ragam, Aadhi Thaalam), Periya Swamy Thuran’s Kaliyuga Varadhan (Brindavan Saranga, Aadhi), Cuddalore Subramaniam’s Janani Janani (Revathi, Aadhi) and Dhandapani Desikar’s Ennai Ne Maravadhe (Amirdhavarsini, Aadhi).



V.K. Raman of Sundaram Business Services presented certificates and mementos to the performing artistes.

The aim of the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park, that takes place on the first sunday of every month between 630am and 730am, is to provide a platform for young children under the age of 15 years to display their musical talent in an informal park audience. Mikes and speakers are not used at the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park. Sundaram Finance conducts audition to select the artistes.
