sunday kutcheri completes 5years

Vidhyalakshmi presents lively mikeless kutcheri



On the occasion of the completion of 5years of the mikeless Sunday Kutcheri in the Park organized by Sundaram Finance on the first Sunday of every month, 13year old K S Vidhyalakshmi, a student of DAV Girls Sr. Secondary School Gopalapuram, presented a lively vocal carnatic music performance this Sunday (6th February) morning that was much appreciated by the big early morning audience that had gathered around the chess square of the Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore.

Accompanied on the Violin by Prof. Kandadevi S Vijayaraghavan, on the Mridangam by Hanumanthapuram R.J.Buvaragan and on the Kanjira by Papanasam Sethuraman, Vidhyalakshmi’s presentation comprised of compositions such as Papanasam Sivan’s Senthil Aandavan (Karaharapriya), Seerkazhi S.Jeyaraman’s Nee Dhayai Purivaai (Hindolam), Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s Aaasai Mugam (Jonpuri) and Thanjavur Shankara Iyer’s Rama Namamae(Desh).

S. Sivakumar, VP, Sundaram Finance Ltd., was present on the occasion and handed over mementos and certificates to the artistes.


Sundaram Finance has been organizing the Sunday Kutcheri in the Park since February 2006.Over 400 young artistes have performed at the Sunday Kutcheri.

Sunday Kutcheri in the Park aims at providing a platform for young children under the age of 15 years to display their musical talent in an informal park audience.
